Sex and Murder

Thats right folks....sex and murder. I just met with a filmmaker today and we discussed a project that she offered me and i graciously and very quickly and passionately accepted...for this project is something i have been searching for ever since i came to San Fran to make films....Fearlessness....this is a project that is entirely fearless, and so must everyone involved also be fearless....i wont say any more for now but suffice it t say, this is the most excited I've been about a project ever precisely because it is not only fearless but because it is exactly what I'm looking for exactly when I'm looking for it. This is a dream project that fell into my lap at the perfect moment. So stay tuned...

"The Friend"

Back in the winter, at the beginning of 2012, a friend of mine and I embarked on a journey to create a film together...this short film is still the largest overall production i have directed but was never truly satisfied with the final product. This was not due to anything that my friend did, but rather my own insecurities about the film. I was never convinced it could carry itself with the extreme lack of dialogue, and some of the camera work felt incredibly raw to me as well as much of the editing. This summer i decided to re-edit the film, as well as put in new music as well as replacing all the original, location sound that was recorded but never used in the original edit. I also went into the digital intermediate and re-color graded the film, using inspiration from things like Terrence Malick's films such as The Tree Of Life or The Thin Red Line as well as the television show The Shield to create a whole new look for the film. What resulted was a much more satisfactory product. I didn't realize it though until just yesterday, when a filmmaker pointed out a flaw in the ending scene in terms of the editing. Until that moment, it never entered my mind to end the film in any way other than how it has always ended, in my mind, on the page, in the shooting, or in the cutting room. But thanks to that one comment, another few changes have been made and now the film is much better for it. Along with a few new shots is even more new music, replacing the music with a pair of themes that i feel even more closely resemble the feeling i am trying to achieve with this story. Thank you to everyone who had a part in the making of this film and thanks to Zuzana Volny for pointing out the problem with the ending and blowing my mind with such a simple idea as adding in a shot or two...And finally thank you to everyone who watches the film, for without you, the audience, we, the entertainers, would not and could not be....it is because of you we do what we do.....thank you.....and stay tuned...

Chapter 5: Out With A Bang

Now the first year of school has ended and it's time to go see the fam and friends
back in missouri....kinda excited for that and to have a little break but i've made
connections with some people that i treasure and i shall genuinely miss them over this summer.
Thank you so much to the people ive been fortunate enough to know and spend time with
and collaborate with and grow to love as family...you guys kept me alive and i'll always
keep you with me....these are memories i will never forget.

Post Script: At the airport in Las Vegas when i parted ways with Heath LoBombard it sank in that i would not see these amazing people again for a few months and i was overwhelmingly sad at the realization of that fact. I love this fantastic group of people i was lucky enough to have assemble and become a part of and i hope and wish for everyone in the world to find people like this....they are more than friends they are family

Chapter 4: Semester 2-"Dorm Zombies"

Semester 2, now only one day away from completion, started off with a bang just like the first. And by the Spring Break, Heath LaBombard, Jesse Ray Diamond, a new addition to Heaths and my team, and Myself began production of our biggest, most audacious project to date, "Dorm Zombies". Starring Will Rose, Brandon Clarke, Casper Kimbo Slice Jr., and myself. Edited by Jesse, and made in association with  Zilla's Hood Productions,  and Open Doors Studios, the film caused much controversy at our school. But as Jesse likes to say, it does not matter what people are saying about you, as long as their saying something.

Chapter 3: Winter Break

Over the winter intercession, only two short films were completed by Open Doors. "The Last Two"; "Goin' Home" (The Last Two Alternate Cut), starring Ricky Condon and Joey Clark, and "The Fun We Had", starring Sean Fleming and myself, James Smith. The aforementioned short is on YouTube but "The Fun We Had" is currently a 28 minute Directors Cut and it is not possible at this time to upload it to YouTube. As the date to go back to San Francisco rapidly approached,  i became more and more excited at the prospect of rejoining the people who inspire me so...

Chapter 2: It Starts with a Heath

After arriving in San Francisco, I met a young man named Heath LoBombard...a genius and the Prince Of Zombies. And, as the school year began things started moving very fast. Many projects were completed, with the promise of more to come, and the excitement at the fine quality of what had been made. At the end of the semester i went back to Missouri, unable to contain my excitement at the idea of returning next semester.
